Tokomairiro High School is a state secondary co-educational school for students from Year 7 to Year 13, with adult students welcome to join our classes.
Our school's motto - Disciplina (learning), Moderatio (self-control), Comitas (courtesy), handed on from the founders of our school, still provides the base of our school values. Added to this are our “Tokomairiro Way” values that all members of our school community are expected to uphold.
We have a behavioural management Programme for teaching and learning that gives clear guidelines to students and teachers. These seek to recognise and value positive learning behaviours whilst making students accountable to antisocial and anti-learning behaviours.
All students have a learning curve logbook that places a weekly emphasis on positive learning behaviours and skills. This is also a valuable resource for students as it describes and explains various learning techniques and how to apply them.
The school participates in the “School Wide Positive Behaviour for Learning” programme. We expect all of these initiatives to assist us in reaching our mission goal.
Our mission goal is to provide the highest educational opportunities possible to meet the need of our students.
We focus on building on the small school advantage by developing a safe and caring learning environment where students can build a love of learning. A close partnership exists between the school, parents, and community. We prepare our students for life and work beyond school, so they may be good citizens and positive contributors to our society.
