It is with pleasure I welcome you to Tokomairiro High School.  We are a small year 7 to 13 co-educational secondary school servicing Milton and the wider Tokomairiro community here in South Otago.

Our school's motto - Disciplina (learning), Moderatio (self-control), Comitas (courtesy), handed on from the founders of our school, still provides the base of our school values. Added to this are our “Tokomairiro Way” values – Respect, Responsibility and Excellence – which all members of our school community are expected to uphold.

We believe that all young people can learn and our focus is on supporting each student to achieve personal excellence.  We also believe that all students matter and that positive relationships between students and staff are essential if our students are to succeed and achieve.
Here at Tokomairiro High School we are proud of the family environment our school provides, where all students know and care for each other.  Our peer support programme provides the opportunity for the year 13 students to work closely with the year 7 students - like big brothers and sisters for the younger students.

At Tokomairiro High School we focus on building on the small school advantage by developing a safe and caring learning environment where students can develop a love of learning.  A close partnership exists between the school, parents and community.  We prepare students for life and work beyond school, so they develop into good citizens and positive contributors to our society.

Being a semi-rural community, Milton provides a wonderful backdrop for the learning of our young people.
